Why are some doctors replacing Xanax with Lorazepam ? I did some internet research and made a short list of the differences between Xanax and Lorazepam :
First the Xanax is the trade name for Alprazolam.

Xanax (Alprazolam):
- Kicks in faster.
- Lasts for shorter time.
- Gets you high.
- Better for panic attacks.
- Starts working immediately , lasts for an average of almost 22 hours.
- Less likely to become addictive (if not abused).
- Comes in 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg and 2 mg tablets.
Ativan (Lorazepam):
- Kicks in slower.
- Lasts longer.
- Hardly sedating . (bad news for people who love the Xanax high).
- Better for anxiety .
- Starts working in the first hour after ingestion , needs two hours to act fully and lasts for 24 hours .
- Can get addictive easily .
- Comes in 1/2mg , 1mg , and 2mg tablets .
